The Dinner of a Dancing Bear

One time I stumbled onto a picture of a sloth bear and thought to myself "That is probably the cutest bear to ever live". Then I found out it pretty much has the highest attack rate of any species of bear. Also it's been said that the sloth bear has been know to eat people. So here is a series of four images that popped into my head when I first heard this. By the way, dating back to the 13th century, sloth bears of been used as dancing bears in India (which was
banned in 1972)

The Dinner of a Dancing Bear (In four parts)

A special thanks to
Meghan K. Baier for taking the photos and Kaitlyn Kanzler for assisting.

The Sloth Bear

last week I finally buckled down and added the final touches onto my newest costume and with the help of two close friends, Meghan Baier and Kaitlyn Kanzler, had a fantastic little photo shoot. I'm still in the process of photo-editing the series, but here's some really nice detail shots of just the mask.

Sloth Bear Mask
Wireform, Paperclay, Lokta paper, Gouache, Gold spray paint

The series will be posted within the next two days... I promise!

Spoiler Warning

So I'm currently working on a new project that is swiftly nearing completion, so I thought it was an appropriate time to upload some process shots... Well at least just a brief glimpse. I'm hoping that given two more weeks the project should be finished, photographed, photo edited and uploaded. I'm excited, you should be too.

Iofur's Defeat

How's another throwback, an illustration of a scene taken from Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass, where the villain Iofur is defeated by Iorak. It's dimensions are 46” x 24” x 24”.
